Another annual collector favorite makes its return today as the United States Mint releases the 2025-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle.

Struck at the West Point Mint from one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the coin is available beginning at Noon ET directly from the U.S. Mint. Pricing is set at $91, marking a significant increase from recent years. The coin debuted at $76 in both 2024 and 2023, and at $67 in 2022.

Alongside the higher price, the Mint has announced a product limit of 90,000 for sales to collectors. This marks the first time a cap has been applied since 2022, which still carries a stated limit. The 2023 and 2024 issues were released without published limits.

Individual U.S. Mint–reported sales through May 11 for the still-available annual issues are as follows:

  • 2024 – 94,058
  • 2023 – 140,059
  • 2022 – 173,589

The uncirculated Silver Eagle series began in 2006, debuting in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the related bullion coins. In addition to sales to collectors, the coin is also sold through the Mint’s Numismatic Bulk Purchase Program and its Authorized Bulk Purchase Program (ABPP).

Coin Designs

Uncirculated American Silver Eagles, like their proof counterparts, feature the same designs as the bullion versions. This includes Adolph A. Weinman’s classic Walking Liberty image on the obverse (heads side), which originally appeared on half-dollars issued from 1916 to 1947.

This CoinNews photo shows both sides of the 2024-W Uncirculated American Silver Eagle. The 2025 issue features the same designs and uncirculated finish as in previous years.

The design shows Liberty in full stride, draped in the folds of the American flag. Her right hand is extended, while her left holds branches of laurel and oak. It has appeared on American Silver Eagles since the bullion and proof versions were introduced in 1986, and in 2021 it was refined using historical assets and modern technology to more closely reflect Weinman’s original vision.

Obverse inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2025.”

The reverse (tails side) was redesigned in 2021, replacing the original heraldic eagle with a new depiction by Mint Artistic Infusion Program Designer Emily Damstra and sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. It features an eagle approaching a landing while carrying an oak branch, suggesting it is about to add it to a nest.

Reverse inscriptions read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”

Each coin also features a reeded edge variation as an anti-counterfeiting measure.
